As long as… Secret Conditionals in English

As long as” is often a comparison.

Ex: The blue boat is as long as the red boat.

But it can also be used in place of “if” as a conditional.

Ex: If you go to the party, I will = As long as you go to the party, I will.

Ex: If it is sunny, we’ll go to the pool = As long as it is sunny, we will go to the pool.

Ex: If you love me, I will be content = As long as you love me, I will be content.
